About Us

SBIRLY was founded by SBIR veterans who have lived every stage of the SBIR/STTR journey — and built the platform they wished they had.

Brad Morris

Co-Founder, SBIRLY

Brad is a technologist with 15 years in government technology, where he has built a career on innovation at the edge — greenfield initiatives and high-risk, high-reward programs that turn emerging capability into fielded reality. Over the past five years he has been associated with 12 SBIR awards, five of them as Principal Investigator, across a portfolio that spans AI/ML, robotics, distributed communications and platforms, biometrics, semi-autonomous systems, generative AI, graph applications and topological anomaly detection services, computer vision, and natural language processing. That breadth is deliberate: Brad works at the intersection of what the government needs next and what technology can actually deliver, and he has repeatedly proven he can carry a concept from whiteboard to award to outcome.

That track record is also why SBIRLY exists. As lead author on winning proposals, architectural designs, and final reports, Brad has developed a keen understanding of what separates funded SBIR submissions from the rest — the proposal requirements, the teaming strategies, and the positioning that creates real competitive advantage. SBIRLY is the product of that experience: the thought leadership, pattern recognition, and hard-won lessons of a repeat SBIR winner, encoded into a platform so that other small businesses can find the right opportunities, sponsors, build the right teams, and compete to win.

Nickolas Golubev

Co-Founder, SBIRLY

Nickolas Golubev is a technology executive, systems architect, and mission-focused innovator with more than 20 years of experience supporting government programs, startups, and emerging technology ventures. He has supported multiple Phase I and Phase II SBIR efforts and led research, feasibility, architecture, and greenfield programs across artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, robotics, distributed communications, RF systems, and semi-autonomous drone and rover platforms.

His government experience includes leading DevSecOps, platform engineering, cloud architecture, and technical delivery for a large-scale federal personnel-vetting modernization program. He has guided multidisciplinary teams through AWS architecture, enterprise system design, secure software delivery, and cybersecurity requirements aligned with RMF and FedRAMP.

Throughout his career, Nickolas has helped startups and businesses assess emerging opportunities, reduce technical risk, and transform early-stage concepts into practical, scalable solutions. At SBIRLY, he applies that experience to help innovators identify strong opportunities and develop credible strategies for execution.
